Velma Mae Smith (Granny)

Velma Mae Smith (Granny), age 75, of London, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. She leaves behind two children, Billy Smith II & wife Tracie, Brigitlee Adams & husband Roy; three siblings, George York & wife Linda, Diane Frazier, Kaye Hubbard; thirteen nephews; six nieces; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; her granddogs and grandcat, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Smith; her parents, Albert York Sr. and Gracie Mae Young York; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Sarah Ann Smith; five siblings, Alberta York, Ida Jean York, Betty Geraldine York, Larry York, Albert York Jr; three brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; her grandparents, George and Ida Dell Young. Velma was one of a kind. She was a homemaker and she babysat and raised a lot of kids. She found true love with her husband Bill. She stayed here for years because she didn’t want to leave her family. She was a faithful member of Freedom Christian Fellowship. She served as a missionary to Uganda and supported the people of Uganda, Africa. Velma was an intercessor in prayer that prayed fervently for those she came into contact with and left a mark on those she met. Funeral services for Velma Mae Smith (Granny) will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery in London, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 5, 2022 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour also at the funeral home.
