Nathaniel "Big Nate" Eldridge Coffey

September 23, 1972 - February 24, 2021

Nathaniel “Big Nate” Eldridge Coffey, age 48, of East Bernstadt, Kentucky and formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. He leaves behind his father, William Pearson Coffey, Sr; three siblings, Wilma Creighton & husband William (Will), William (Bill) P. Coffey Jr., Suzette Coffey-Greene, all of Indianapolis, IN; his nieces and nephew whom he considered as his children, Carwanda Coffey-Doomes, David Boozer Jr., Lakita Boozer, Latrice Coffey, all of Indianapolis, IN; his great nieces and nephews, Sincere Coffey, Nascere Coffey, Israel Coffey, Carlita Sanders, Kamaria Sanders, Lillie Mae Sanders, Carl’del Sanders, Juelz Coffey; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Mae Justice; his paternal grandparents, Carl & Lillie Mae Coffey; his maternal grandparents, James & Nora Justice; two aunts, Alice Cowan and Joyce Cowan; two uncles, Howard Justice and Cornelius Coffey. Nathaniel worked in construction for many years, including most recently for Rising Sun Development in Lexington, KY. He enjoyed fishing with family and friends, cooking for family, and loved good fried chicken. Nathaniel especially enjoyed spoiling his nieces, nephews and cousins. He was always smiling, and never met a stranger. If you met him even once, you would remember him. Nathaniel loved talking with family and friends and making them all smile. He was the life of the gathering, always making sure everyone got along. If anyone asked him for a favor, he would never say no. A Memorial Service for Nathaniel “Big Nate” Eldridge Coffey will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 6, 2021 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the service hour also at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers are Willie Williams, Troy Cowan, David Cowan, Jeff Justice, Wayne Riley, Caleb Coffey. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
