John Hubert Barnard

John Hubert Barnard, 93, of London, died Friday, January 28, 2022, in Richmond, Kentucky. He was born in Laurel County, Kentucky, January 14, 1929, the son of the late Richard Barnard and Nell Gross Barnard. Mr. Barnard is survived by his wife, Zula Williams Barnard, a daughter, Rhonda Atwood, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, eight grandchildren, Shani Marie Atwood, Ruby Elaine Atwood, Christopher Douglas Atwood, John Paul Barnard, Kevin Scott Barnard, Sheli Ann Weiss, Adam Nathaniel Barnard, and Matthew Garret Bogan, several great-grandchildren, and many other extended family and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Zuma Williams Barnard, his son Richard Kevin Barnard, and his daughter, Rosalind Bogan. His siblings, Charles, Mary, Ruby, James, Velma, and Harold also preceded John in death. Mr. Barnard was retired from his job as manufacturing supervisor at Western Electric. He began his career with that company in Indianapolis and was later transferred to Shreveport, Louisiana when the company opened facilities there. He worked for Western Electric for 34 years. John was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church, 855 Somerset Road, London, KY, 40741, until his illness. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts take the form of donations to that church or a charity of your choice. Funeral services for John Hubert Barnard will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Mike Burns officiating. Burial will take place later at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 beginning at 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour also at the funeral home.
