Fannie Regina Watkins

May 8, 1931 - June 11, 2022

Fannie Regina Watkins “Gigi”, 91, of London, Kentucky passed peacefully on Saturday, June 11th at Laurel Heights Home for the Elderly, surrounded by loved ones. Regina was born on May 8, 1931 in Faubush, Kentucky. She graduated from Nancy High School in 1951. She worked at Palm Beach Factory, Hotel Beecher and Edward’s Restaurant in Somerset, where she met her beloved husband, Hayden Watkins. They were married on December 20, 1958. She then completed cosmetology school and enjoyed a career as a hairdresser for over 30 years. She truly loved her work and all of her regular clients at Cardinal Image Salon. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where she served as Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher for many years. She loved her “kids” with all of her heart and impacted so many children through the years as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was loved and adored by them all. While she never had biological children, she was a second mother to so many, especially her namesake, Regina Beth (Liford) Rotkvich, who she considered a daughter. Her “boy” Greg Hill, who gave her the name “Gigi” and her “precious” MacKenna Hill who was born on her 70th birthday were dear to her heart as well. Regina enjoyed needlework, quilting, cooking, shopping, going for walks and spending time with family and friends. She always loved her shopping trips to Lexington with her friend Catherine. She is survived by sisters Earlene Hart, Winnie Rainwater and Katie Sue Dalton along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Watkins, Ph.D; her parents, Virda (Wilson) Daulton and Buford Daulton; sisters, Josephine Daulton and Joann Minton; sister-in-law, Maize (Watkins) Savitski and brother-in-law, Delmar Watkins. Funeral services for Fannie Regina Watkins will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Roger Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow at Hale Cemetery in London, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Dan LaTurno, Bill Curtis, Chuck Hill, Greg Hill, Jeremy Hill and Jason Wolfe. Honorary pallbearers are Todd Liford, T. J. Lambert, MacKenna Hill and Hayden Rotkvich. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 13, 2022 beginning at 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
