Dakota Eugene Thomas

June 18, 2004 - May 3, 2020

Dakota Eugene Thomas, age 15, of Lily, Kentucky passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital in London, Kentucky. He leaves behind his parents, Donald Thomas and Tammy Mounce Thomas of Lily, KY; his sister, Sierra Snyder & husband Korey of Keavy, KY; his grandmothers, Joyce Mounce of East Bernstadt, KY, Sandy Price of Eubank, KY, Mable Thomas of Hamilton, OH; his aunt, Tina Mounce; and a host of cousins that are like brothers and sisters to Dakota as well as other family and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers--Billy Wayne Mounce, Michael Thomas, and Eddie Price; and by his aunt, Michelle Creech. Dakota was a sophomore at South Laurel High School, where he was an ROTC cadet and a member of the archery team. He had recently received his notice of admission to the Laurel County Center for Innovation. He was active in nursery and youth ministry at Freedom Point Church where he attended faithfully. He was a student counselor for Camp L.E.A.P. and was a 4-H Camp CIT. Dakota loved to hunt and fish. A private funeral service for Dakota Eugene Thomas will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020 in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Brian Bond, Dwight Scalf, and Sean Disney officiating. Burial will follow at Lucky Ridge Cemetery in Lily, KY. A “DRIVE-THROUGH ONLY” visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Freedom Point Church in Dakota's honor. Mail the check to Freedom Point Church, PO Box 1173, Corbin, KY 40702-1173, drop it in the secured lockbox to the left of the church's main entrance located at 472 N Hwy 1223 (American Greeting Card Rd), Corbin, or drop it at House-Rawlings funeral home located at 510 E 4th St, London.
