Wanda Evans Allen, a beloved resident of London, Kentucky, passed away at the age of 81 after a remarkable 60-year career as a self-employed beautician on Monday, July 15, 2024. Known for her exceptional skills, Wanda provided her services to several funeral homes in the area, touching the lives of many with her talent and compassion. She leaves behind one daughter, Kim Allen Barton of Corbin, KY; three siblings, Phyllis Evans Hodges of Lexington, KY, Teena Weaver & husband Jerry, Freddy Evans, both of London, KY; five grandchildren, Kacie Moore, Josh Allen, Jessica Boone, all of London, KY, Keeli Barton, Cameron Barton, both of Corbin, KY; three great grandchildren, Haven Allen, Conner Gavin, Mason Allen; several nieces and nephews, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Allen; her parents, Fred & Nancy Sherman Evans; and by her daughter, Joanna Boone. A devoted member of the Laurel River Missionary Baptist Church, Wanda's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was baptized in Laurel River, a moment that held great significance for her. Wanda had a zest for life that was evident in her everyday activities. She was an avid fan of soap operas and a proud supporter of the University of Kentucky's sports teams. With her impeccable hair and makeup, Wanda always presented herself with grace and style. Her personality was as vibrant as her appearance. Wanda loved riding in the front seat of the car and had a knack for getting her way. Her sass and dry sense of humor were well-known among family and friends, and she could always be counted on to crack a joke and lift spirits. At the heart of Wanda's life was her family. She had a boundless love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her generosity and willingness to help were unmatched; she was always there for anyone in need. Wanda Evans Allen's legacy of love, humor, and beauty will forever be cherished by those who knew her. She leaves behind a family and community deeply grateful for the time they had with her. Funeral services for Wanda Evans Allen will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Rev. Sean Ryan and Rev. Craig Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel River Cemetery in London, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 19, 2024 beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour, also at the funeral home. The pallbearers will be Jerry Weaver, Cameron Barton, Danny Evans, Jud Weaver, Josh Allen and Steve Ritchey. Honorary pallbearers are Freddy Evans, Jeff Weaver, Judd Weaver and Robbie Hodges. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
