Verlene Turner

Verlene Turner, age 85, of London, Kentucky passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026 in Shelby, Michigan where she lived with her son and daughter-in-law. She was born on December 29, 1940 in London, Kentucky to the late Gordon and Myrtle Cheek. She leaves behind two children, Sheila Boots & husband Bill, Cole Turner & wife Susan; her sister, Brenda Boyne; three grandchildren, James Longmire & wife Amanda, Stephanie Giffin & husband Lee, Melissa Bowman & husband Kerry; eleven great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren; her honorary daughter, Madhu Sennerikuppam (Kalyan); plus a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends to cherish her memory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Turner; and by two siblings, Beverly Giles & Jackie Cheek. Verlene lived a life centered on faith, family, and the simple blessings that brought her joy each day. A devoted member of Campground First Baptist Church, she treasured her church family and looked forward to every opportunity to worship. Her faith was the foundation of her life and was reflected in the kindness, love, and encouragement she shared with those around her. Music filled her heart, and she especially loved listening to gospel, hymns, and bluegrass. Whether gathered with family or enjoying a quiet day at home, those familiar melodies brought her comfort and happiness. Verlene was full of life and found joy in the simple country life she loved so dearly. She appreciated peaceful days, the beauty of God's creation, and the comfort of home. She also had a special place in her heart for her faithful dog, Sadie, whose companionship brought her much happiness over the years. Above all else, Verlene dearly loved her family. They were the greatest blessing of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Her love was steadfast and unconditional, and she found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved most. Verlene's gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and love for her family will be remembered always. Her life was a beautiful example of finding joy in life's simplest moments, loving others well, and trusting the Lord through every season. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. A funeral service honoring Verlene Turner will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Anthony Hinkle officiating. Interment will follow at A. R. Dyche Memorial Park in London, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Sunday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour, also at the funeral home. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
