Tommy A. Baker

Tommy A. Baker, age 56, of London, Kentucky (formerly of Harlan, KY) passed away on February 24, 2024 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center following a brief illness. Tommy was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he gave his life to the Lord in 2016. Tommy is preceded in death by his mother, Lorna Sue Brown Baker. He leaves behind his loving wife, of 24 years, Janis Johnson Baker; his sons Evan Baker and Ean Baker, all of London, KY; his father William Baker, of Harlan, KY; his mother-in-law, Jerry Fuson, of London, KY; his brother-in-law, Jeff Johnson & wife Kathy, of Louisville, KY; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing. Tommy worked for 27 years as a store manager for AWG. Beyond his professional endeavors, he was a passionate supporter of UK basketball/football. He also enjoyed spending time on the lake and racing go-karts with his sons. Tommy was a quiet man of not many words. He was a salt of the earth, humble, and most selfless man. All who knew him will always have a kind word for him. He was truly one of a kind. He was a devoted coach who generously shared his time and expertise with countless young athletes. Whether coaching his sons or other children in football, basketball, or baseball, he instilled in them the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance. His impact on their lives extended far beyond the playing field, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts and minds. Above all else, Tommy was a dedicated family man who found joy and fulfillment in supporting his sons' athletic and academic pursuits. He attended every game, practice, and competition, cheering loudly from the sidelines and celebrating their achievements with boundless pride. Funeral services for Tommy A. Baker will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Reed officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 29, 2024 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at A. R. Dyche Memorial Park on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements. Pallbearers will be Anthony Brown, Aaron Brown, Kendale Wilson, Jeffrey Johnson, Evan Baker and Ean Baker.
