Roger D. Rush

Roger D. Rush, age 76, of London, Kentucky passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024. He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years and 9 months, Penny Patton Rush; two children, Roger W. Rush & wife Kim, Samuel R. Rush & wife Amy, all of London, KY; four grandchildren, Ariel Rush Smith & husband Michael, Dawson Ray Rush, Noah Samuel Rush, Cody Johnson & Jamie Mihalik; one great grandchild, Ember Mae Johnson; his sister, Sue Petrey; two special nephews, Travis & Todd Petrey; his fur baby, Thunder, better known as Precious; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daw & Louise Lawson Rush; and by his brother-in-law, Bill Petrey. Roger was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and an honest, hardworking man. He leaves a legacy of integrity, love, and faith. A retired self-employed carpenter, Roger's hands built more than just homes; they built a life rooted in dedication, loyalty, and service. Before becoming a master of his trade, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, demonstrating the same strength and commitment that would define him throughout his life. Roger found joy in the great outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing, or simply soaking in nature, he felt most alive when surrounded by the beauty of God's creation. His love for his family was unparalleled, and he took immense pride in his sons and grandchildren, celebrating their every success with a humble heart and a joyful spirit. He was known for his honesty — a man of few pretenses and many truths. "Don't ask if you don't want to know," he'd often say, reminding us all that sincerity is a virtue to be cherished. He lived his life as an open book, always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Roger was a man of strong faith. As a member of Freedom United Baptist Church, he dedicated his life to serving the Lord. His devotion to his Christian faith was evident in everything he did. As he often said, "I’m a winner either way," knowing that whether here on Earth or in Heaven, his path was secure in the Lord’s grace. His life will be remembered as one of faith, family, and forthrightness. Roger Rush will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love and truth will live on through his family and those fortunate enough to have crossed his path Funeral services for Roger D. Rush will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Darren Cupp and Craig Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at A. R. Dyche Memorial Park in London, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 29, 2024 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour also at the funeral home. The pallbearers will be Dawson Ray Rush, Noah Samuel Rush, Cody Johnson, Travis Scott Petrey, Josh Houston, Michael Vaughn and Matthew Vaughn. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
