Mona Jean Martin Hicks, age 88, of London, Kentucky passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024. She leaves behind one son, Vernon Hicks & wife Judy of London, KY; two siblings, Sanford Martin & wife Siggi of Germany, Harold Martin & wife Louise of Pittsburg, KY; four grandchildren, Chadwick Allen Hicks, Shane Clay Botkins, Christy Jean Hicks, Dustin Lucas Nantz; and four great grandchildren, Cass Botkins, Cameron Botkins, Ava Hicks, Ike Hicks; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Estill Clay Hicks; her parents, Elbert & China Owens Martin; her daughter, Kathy Jean Hicks; and by four siblings, Homer Martin, Joyce Ann Bailey, Sharon Kay Martin, Martha Pearl Hammons. Mona lived a life of unwavering faithfulness and dedication to church. She found solace and purpose in serving others, exemplifying the true essence of compassion and selflessness. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and offer words of comfort to those in need, representing the teachings of love and kindness. Beyond her commitment to her faith community, Mona was known for her boundless capacity to care for others. She possessed a servant's heart, tirelessly dedicating her time and energy to tending to the needs of those around her. Whether it was offering a listening ear, preparing meals, or providing support during times of hardship, Mona approached every act of caregiving with genuine warmth and empathy. Her legacy of selflessness and generosity will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mona leaves behind rich memories filled with her love, laughter, and a profound impact on the lives of others. The family would like to thank God for giving them such a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. Vernon has expressed that he thanks God every day that He would give someone like him the most wonderful mother in the world. Funeral services for Mona Jean Martin Hicks will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Johnny Ray Benge officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in London, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 10, 2024 beginning at 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
