Lonnie James Smith

Lonnie James Smith, age 48, of London, Kentucky passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024. He leaves behind the mother of his children, Lillie Smith; his parents, Jimmy & Sandra Whitehead Smith; six children, Anna Smith, Dillis Smith, Merry Smith, Charlie Smith, Jayden Smith, Julie Smith; three grandchildren, Jordan Turner, Ashton Turner, Taylor Roberts; two siblings, Karen Robinson & husband Roy Jr., Deborah Robinson & husband Cody; plus a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Rodney Smith, Lisa Smith. Jay was a very special person; He loved all and was loved by all the people he came in contact with. Jay enjoyed the outside: hunting, fishing, and boating with his best friend/brother-in-law Roy Jr. and Cody. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. They loved each other dearly. Jay remained friends with his children’s mother Lillie. She was very kind to Jay throughout their friendship in life. Jay loved getting his sisters, Debbie and Kari, wound up just so he could get a laugh out of it. Jay had a very special aunt in his life (Sis). He truly loved her, and she loved him. Jay had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends that truly loved and were loved by him. If anyone needed help, he was always there to help a person out. Jay’s dad Jimmy taught him to love God and the way of growing into a kind man. Jay’s mother Sandy always carried him in her heart as he did with her. Jay was truly the definition of momma’s boy. There is no love like a mother’s love. At the beginning of his life in heaven, Jay had a peaceful and beautiful smile. Funeral services for Lonnie James Smith will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at First Love Church with Lonnie Whitehead reading the obituary and Jimmy Smith and Michael Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Haven Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky. The graveside service song will be sung by Dale Hamlin. The prayer will be by Gordon Martin. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 27, 2024 beginning at 6:00 p.m. also at the church. The pallbearers will be Charlie, Jamie, Braxton, Gavin, Jonathan, Joseph, Jacob, Lee, Lawrence, Brian and Caloway. The family would like to thank every family member and friend that came out and supported Jay throughout all of this. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
