Jean Weber Christian, age 98, of London, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025. She leaves behind three daughters, Rebecca Chaney & husband Mike, Barbara Meding & husband Jim, Beth Hufford Woods & husband Bernie; eight grandchildren, Sarah Holloway, Angela Long & husband Todd, Christopher Carmichael & wife Mollee, Steven Carmichael, Allison Correll & husband William, Jessica Slone & husband Chris, Matthew Christian Hufford, Rachel Whitlock Hufford; twelve great grandchildren, Brian Holloway, Andrew Holloway, Ella Long, Hillary Correll, Jude Correll, Stella Correll, Dawson Slone, Dillon Slone, Emma-Kate Slone, Scarlett Slone, Charlotte Carmichael, Alexander Carmichael; plus a host of other family and friends to cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Fred Christian; her parents, Louis & Ethel Weber; her brother, Louis Carol Weber; and by her sister, Kathryn Berckman. Jean was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by faith, education, service, and a genuine love for people. She touched countless lives through her kindness, enthusiasm, and unwavering commitment to her family and community. Jean was a graduate of Georgetown College, where she met her beloved husband, Fred. In 1950, they moved to London, Kentucky, which became the place they proudly called home for the rest of their lives. A beloved educator, Jean served as a teacher at London Elementary School for 35 years, influencing generations of students. Her impact reached far beyond the classroom, as many of her former students continued to remember her fondly and credit her with shaping their lives. Jean was a faithful and active member of First Christian Church, where she dearly loved her church family. She was also deeply committed to lifelong learning and community service, serving on the boards of the Laurel County Library and Laurel County Adult Literacy. In addition, she was a past president of the Laurel County Retired Teachers. An avid traveler, Jean delighted in exploring the world. She proudly visited all 50 states, the provinces of Canada, and made several trips to Europe, with Greece holding a special place as her favorite destination. Jean was also a passionate University of Kentucky fan, known for dressing in her UK blue and enthusiastically cheering on the Wildcats. Those who knew Jean remember her outgoing personality and her deep love for people. Her smile was contagious, bringing joy and warmth to every room she entered. The family extends a special and heartfelt thank you to her Village Heights family, where Jean resided for the past 12 years. Their exceptional care, compassion, and dedication enriched her life through countless activities, trips, and celebrations, for which the family is profoundly grateful. Jean’s legacy lives on through her family, her former students, and all those blessed to have known her. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. A funeral service honoring Jean Weber Christian will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Jonathan Carmack officiating. Interment will follow at A. R. Dyche Memorial Park in London, Kentucky. The pallbearers will be Mike Chaney, Jim Meding, Bernie Woods, Steven Carmichael, Jimmy Baker and Jim Ridings. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour, also at the funeral home.
