James Edward Reid

James Edward Reid, age74, of East Bernstadt, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Janice Henderlight Reid; two children, Letitia Reid Maynard & husband Brian of Lexington, KY, James Christopher Reid of East Bernstadt, KY; four grandchildren, Reid McKenzie Maynard, Tierney Ann Maynard, Weston James Reid & Jackson James Reid; two siblings, Joyce Reid Gilly, Peggy Brown Proffitt, both of London, KY; plus a host of other family and friends to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Elmo & Alilee Johnson Reid. Ed left behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and service. He was among the first 100 employees hired at American Greetings in Corbin, Kentucky when it opened in 1969 and remained committed to his work in maintenance until the company's closure in 2002. Fittingly, he was the last one to leave the building, a testament to his unwavering work ethic and loyalty. Beyond his career, Ed was a man of many passions. An avid hunter and skilled woodworker, he found joy in the outdoors and in crafting with his hands. He loved country music, farming, and had a special connection with animals, particularly the Blue Heelers he trained with care. A man of deep faith, Ed was a lifelong member of East Bernstadt Baptist Church, attending since birth and remaining dedicated to his church family throughout his life. He also served his country honorably in the United States Army (1970-1972). Above all, Ed was a devoted husband, a helping hand to all who knew him, and a steadfast presence in the lives of his loved ones. His legacy of hard work, faith, and kindness will be cherished forever. A funeral service honoring James Edward Reid will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Norm Brock and James Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
