Irene Mullins Herron

Irene Mullins Herron passed away on August 2, 2025, at age 100. Irene was born on September 2, 1924, to Erma and Danny Mullins. She grew up in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, and moved to London, Kentucky, after her marriage to Millard Herron, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Herron was a long-time member of Faith Assembly of God Church, where she taught Sunday School for several years. She was also a member of the London Chapter of the Gideons International Auxiliary. Irene was an avid reader and loved to work crossword puzzles. She was an excellent seamstress, quilter, and cook. She was a homemaker until she began working at American Greetings Corporation in Corbin, Kentucky. She retired in 1990 and continued to be active with her church and with volunteer positions in the community. Irene is survived by her children: Larry (Wanda) Herron, Jill (Ed) Kerr, and Clint (Illie) Herron. She is survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Shannon (Jeff) Weaver and their daughter Audrey, Stephanie Herron (Drew McCormick) and their daughter Alexandra, Travis (Susan) Rose and their son Calloway, Tyler (Arina) Rose and their son Tyler Jr. (and a daughter who will be born in November,) Derrick (Victoria) Herron and their daughter Arya, and Austin Herron. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Margaret Elizabeth (Hobe) Withers and her family. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends, and especially by her friend and neighbor, Connie Cook Johnson, who has been like a daughter to her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Herron’s siblings Benton, Wenona, Jay, Fannie, Norma, and Danny, Jr. passed away before her. She was predeceased by her husband Millard, daughter Elma (Quentin) Burns, and granddaughter Toni Hubbard. Funeral services for Irene Herron will be at House-Rawlings Funeral Home, 510 East 4th Street, London, KY 40741 on Friday, August 8, 2025, with Reverend Rodney Goodlett officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery in London, Kentucky. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. to noon, and the funeral service will begin at noon. The family’s preferred donations are to Faith Assembly of God, 390 Faith Assembly Church Road, London, KY 40741 or to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 131, London, KY 40743. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
