Gwen Floyd, age 86, of London, Kentucky passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025. She leaves behind six children, Sharon Floyd of London, KY, Tim Floyd & wife Kim of London, KY, Steve Floyd of London, KY, Rob Floyd & wife Connie of London, KY, Tom Floyd & wife Kim of Somerset, KY; Sondra Bowling & husband Randy of London, KY; one brother, Eddie Elam & wife Sue of Tarpon Springs, FL; twelve grandchildren, Rachel Jackson, Ryan Floyd, Lindsay Floyd, Brandon Floyd, Cindy Martin, Brittany Robinson, Jacob Floyd, Chris Floyd, Jordan Floyd, Cody Bowling, Taylor Bowling, Drew Allen; fifteen great grandchildren, Mason Jackson, Adyson Martin, Anson Floyd, Boone Floyd, Leo Floyd, Luke Robinson, Lane Robinson, Lila Floyd, Eli Floyd, Tanner Floyd, Hadley Floyd, Marcy Bowling, Willow Bowling, Brady Bowling, Maleah Bowling; plus a host of other family and friends to cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Paul Estil Floyd; her parents, George & Sarah Williams Elam; and by eleven siblings, Mattie Kuhlmann, Francis Afterkirk, Agnes Greer, Postie Hunt, Grace Singleton, Ella Philpot, Margie Proffit, Curt Elam, James Elam, Vernon Elam, G. L. Elam. In her younger years, Gwen worked in retail at the London Department Store, where she was known for her warm smile and gracious manner. She took great pride in her work and enjoyed connecting with customers and coworkers alike. A lifelong fan of University of Kentucky basketball, Gwen proudly wore blue and rarely missed a game. Whether celebrating a win or riding out a tough season, she remained a true Wildcat at heart. Above all, Gwen loved her family. She found her greatest joy in spending time with them—sharing stories, celebrating milestones, and offering her steady support and quiet wisdom. Her love was constant, and her presence a blessing to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. A funeral service honoring Gwen Floyd will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with David Bullock and Norm Brock officiating. Interment will follow at Dunn Cemetery in London, KY. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 beginning at 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. The pallbearers will be Chris Floyd, Ryan Floyd, Jacob Floyd, Jordan Floyd, Brandon Floyd, Cody Bowling, Taylor Bowling and Drew Allen. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
