Charles L. Girdley, age 83, of London, Kentucky, was born on May 9, 1942 in Harlan County, Kentucky, and passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025. Charles was a man who lived a full and meaningful life, grounded in faith, family, and simple pleasures. He was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and a storytelling gift that made everyone feel welcome in his presence. Whether he was spinning a tall tale, watching an old western, or sitting quietly by the water with a fishing pole in hand, Charles had a way of making life feel a little richer and more memorable. His love for the outdoors, especially fishing, brought him peace and joy throughout his life. He cherished quiet mornings and long afternoons by the water, where he often shared stories that grew a little taller with time. At home, he could often be found enjoying classic westerns or reading his Bible, finding strength and wisdom in its pages. His faith was central to who he was—steadfast, enduring, and deeply personal. Charles was a member of the East Bernstadt Church of God, where he found not only spiritual support but also lasting friendships and a sense of community. He lived his faith through quiet acts of kindness, encouragement, and generosity to those around him. Professionally, Charles spent many years as a dedicated truck driver having worked last at the Robinson Sausage Company. He was known for his reliability, work ethic, and good-natured humor. He took pride in his work and built strong relationships with coworkers and customers alike. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Girdley, with whom he shared many cherished years, and by his precious daughter, Tina Girdley, whose memory he carried close to his heart every day. He was also preceded by his parents, Charles Girdley and Maude Payne Girdley, whose values and strength helped shape the man he became. Charles leaves behind his grandson, Charles Logan Girdley, who was the pride and joy of his life. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who adored him, and a special nephew, Mike Ward, who shared a close and lasting bond with him. To his family, Charles was a source of wisdom, laughter, and love—always ready with a story, a smile, and a listening ear. He will be remembered not just for the life he lived, but for the lives he touched—through his warmth, his wit, his faith, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved. Charles L. Girdley will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
