Billy Ray Spencer

Billy Ray Spencer, age 44, of London, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022. He leaves behind his loving wife, Lenae Johnson Spencer; his mother, Janet Marie Smith Spencer; two children, Dominick Spencer & Logan Runyuns, Haley Spencer & Brandon Saylor, all of London, KY; two siblings, Ashley Bledsoe & husband Cody of East Bernstadt, KY, Tyler Grimes of London, KY; one grandchild, Nova Spencer; his nephew, Ryder Bledsoe; his good friends, Mike Asher, Freddy Brown, Shane Stephens, Michael Dykes; all of his riding buddies in Harlan that he only saw a few times a year but always kept in touch with, and a few special ones like Taz Hawkins of Virginia and the Putnams, Billy, Trevor & Adam of North Carolina; plus, a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Ray Spencer. Billy’s passion was 4-wheeling, not just any riding, but the tougher the better. He would climb it or break it trying. He has a Rock Bouncer Buggy that he built himself and loved every minute spent in the woods in it. Harlan was his go to place, there wasn’t a trail or hill he hadn’t climbed and even tried to go backwards a few times! LOL! At home he would take off in the RZR just to go visit, make a run to the 49er for a burger or just get away for a few hours to think. He never saw a stranger and would help anyone with anything – friend or not. If he wasn’t in the woods, he could be found hiking, fishing, or at the lake. If it could be done outdoors, then he loved it. He also loved being in the garage. If he could envision it, he could make it. When it came to mechanics, welding and fabricating, there wasn’t much he couldn’t do. He loved his family but his pride and joy was his grand-daughter, Nova Rae. He loved her fiercely and took her fishing even though she was only a few months old. Funeral services for Billy Ray Spencer will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with James Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Poynter Chapel Cemetery in Bald Rock, Kentucky. Pallbearers include Austin Spencer, Jacob Hall, Mike Asher, Kenneth Spencer, Cody Bledsoe, Brandon Saylor, Shane Stephens, Doyle Ray Hibbard, Doyle Hibbard and Freddy Brown. Russell Lee Brown is an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 2, 2022 beginning at 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
