Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever - Psalm 23 With her loving family by her side, Anna Margaret Jacobs, age 51, left us to be with the Lord on October 08, 2022 at the Albert B Chandler Medical Center Markey Cancer Center (Bluegrass Hospice), Lexington, Kentucky after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. As a career educator, Anna was an exceptional middle school teacher, coach, colleague, and mentor for over 30 years. As a daughter, granddaughter, sister, wife, mother, cousin, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend, her love and devotion to all were unrivaled. She was generous and kind, and loved animals of all kinds. Anna had a wonderful sense of humor; she was always caring and passionate about teaching and learning. She learned to play the piano and had to practice each day with her grandmother. As testament to her tenacity, she was a diehard Duke Blue Devils college basketball fan in a swarm of Big Blue Nation family and friends. Anna became a high school regional standout in varsity tennis and met her to-be husband, Eric, on the court at Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Passes, Kentucky. Theirs was a “match made in Heaven” - a love story both rare and everlasting. Anna was passionate about vegetable and flower gardening and she rarely missed a summer of canning tomatoes or beans to enjoy over the winter. She shared a deep passion with Eric for their other “babies”: their champion bloodline horses and dogs that they trained together for so many years. Anna Margaret Allen Jacobs was born the youngest of two children to Ronnie Allen and Marie Allen of Ary, Kentucky on November 3, 1970. Her dad Ronnie was an educator and her mom Marie worked in the medical field. Anna graduated Hazard High School in 1988 and went on to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education Alice Lloyd College in 1992, where she met and fell in love with Eric Jacobs of Pippa Passes. They married while Anna was still in college. She went on to Morehead State where she finished her Master’s Degree, and to the University of the Cumberlands where she finished her Rank 1. Anna had completed her student teaching and began her career at The June Buchanan School in 1992, and would go on to serve there where she taught a diverse group from second graders all the way up to Freshmen level in high school. She coached high school tennis, speech, cheerleading and led her teams to many successful seasons in their district and at nationals. In 2009 she and Eric and their two oldest boys relocated to the rolling countryside of southwest London, Kentucky to pursue their dream of owning a farm to raise English Setters and Rocky Mountain horses. She began working for the Laurel County School System. Shortly thereafter, a third son joined this loving family. Anna went on to teach for Laurel County in her present position with North Laurel Middle School (Go Jags!!), teaching social studies, English, and all her life tricks of the trade to the amazing minds she molded. She leaves behind her mother and father; her husband and her three sons, Chesney, Jaxon and Zachary; her, brother, Dean Allen of Dice, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Toni Henry (Rick) of North Carolina and Krista Phillips (Chris) of Alaska, her sidekick, Hudson, and a multitude of family, friends, former students and fur babies all across the world. Anna is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Estelean Hall Jacobs; her maternal and paternal grandparents; her fur babies Fritz, Ginger, and other special pets. Like all challenges she ever faced, Anna fought cancer relentlessly until the end, never losing hope and showering those who came to visit her in her last days with smiles, hugs, kisses, and “I love yous”. When her time with us was winding down, she said a celebration was coming, tomorrow. That celebration began the next day, and it lifted her spirit to the Heavens and to eternal peace. Let us celebrate Anna’s life and legacy. Let us recognize the grace and love she showed us every time she laughed or cried with us or held our hand and comforted us. May we carry those sweet memories forever in our hearts. Funeral services for Anna Margaret Jacobs will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home, with Ronnie Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Merrimac Cemetery in London, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 13, 2022 beginning at 4:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
