Philip Allin Gilkison

Philip Allin Gilkison, age 66, of London, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023. He leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Jadene Collins Bow Gilkison; two children, Christen Floyd & husband Dustin, Collin Gilkison & fiancé Christa, all of London, KY; three grandchildren, Kylee Floyd, Noah Floyd, Eli Bow Allin Floyd; two siblings, Leonard Edwin Gilkison Jr. & wife Kathy of Winchester, KY, Kevin Jouett Gilkison & wife Amy of Georgetown, KY and sister-in-law Roxanne Bow; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Edwin & Jane Ann Springate Gilkison; and by his sister, Suzanne Gilkison. Philip graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics. He worked at Southern States, Lexington, KY in agricultural supply retail. He soon continued his education with a second bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration and furthered his career as a nursing home administrator for more than 30 years. Having always enjoyed real estate and even building/remodeling his own and his parents’ houses during his life, his retirement educational endeavor was to become a real estate agent and broker. He purchased an existing real estate agency and made it his own all the while trying to honor the legacy of his predecessor. He thoroughly enjoyed H.E.R.E (Hodges Elite Real Estate) and all the ventures the business entailed. Simultaneously he developed Vacation Rentals, first in Cocoa Beach, FL and subsequently on scenic Wood Creek Lake here in Laurel County. He had an immense passion for the outdoors and hard work. He loved spending time on Cocoa Beach in Florida. He never got enough of the sun and the ocean. Philip was a devoted father and grandfather. He taught his children to live by Christian values and all the necessary components to be successful adults along with his wife, Jadene. He always supported his children’s involvement in their sports, extracurriculars and youth groups, consistently volunteering as chaperone, bus driver, band booster president and swim team judge/timer. His love and pride in his grandchildren will always be unmatched. He was a supporter of the St. Jude hospital for children with cancer, the Alzheimer’s foundation, and the Special Olympics always participating in the annual polar bear plunge at Lee’s Ford Marina. Philip has touched many lives and will be sorely missed. He will always be in our hearts and minds. The family requests that you consider a donation to a cause close to his heart like the ones previously mentioned in lieu of flowers or to the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center in memory of Philip Allin Gilkison. A Celebration of Life service for Philip Allin Gilkison will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 18, 2023 beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the service hour also at the funeral home. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
