Jo Anne Morris Hislope

Our mom, Jo Anne Morris Hislope, passed away on June 9, 2014. She was born March 11, 1930 in Science Hill to Roscoe and Ita Swearingen Morris. She is survived by Jeanette Hislope of Somerset, Kentucky & Kristi Hislope of Dahlonega, GA; a brother, Joe (and Jolene) Morris of Lexington, KY; a sister, Sharon Muse; her sister-in-law, Loretta (and Gayle) Wilson; three nieces, Tammy Bartley of Burgin, KY, Renee Schmidt of Louisville, KY, and Charlene Muse and one nephew, Brock Muse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Denver Hislope; one brother and sister-in-law, J.D. and Elizabeth Hislope. Jo Anne worked her whole life for family with her father, the funeral home, a temporary service, and a print shop. She was a member of the Science Hill Nazarene Church, the Ferguson Methodist Church and currently the Somerset Nazarene Church. She was also a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary. Jo Anne was a character. You never had to wonder how she felt about anything because she would tell you. She loved her family, her church family, and the crew at Pulaski Funeral Home and Morris and Hislope Funeral Home. She leaves her two best friends from childhood; Nancy Elliott and Charlene Shelton. Her family knows that she will be missed by her Laurel County family; R.C. (Marie) Walker, Willa Dean Reynolds and Mary Johnson. Her husband; Denver Hislope went home to be with the Lord on June 19, 2012. As much as she loved her children, she missed him and was ready to be re-united with him. They are having a great time now in Heaven. No matter how much time God gives us, we’ll always our parents and know that we will see them soon. There are more friends and family by choice than we can name, but you know who you are and we, the family of Jo Anne Hislope appreciate all of you. Our family will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Thursday Morning July 3, 2014 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday Evening. We celebrate our mothers life with a funeral service starting at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening, July 3, 2014 with Bro. Larry Nichols officiating.
